Silver Cinquefoil (Potentilla argentea), fam. Rosaceae.
This is the most drought-resistant and heliophilous among all our cinquefoil species. Due to that, it usually occurs as a city weed, though White Cinquefoil and Creeping Cinquefoil prefer slightly shaded parts of the forest, and Silverweed Cinquefoil – the watershores.
It is distinguished by its multiple-branched shoots, having small tomentous palmate leaves near the base. The tops of the shoots carry numerous little yellow flowers, which can be seen in late May till June.
The rhizome, herb and leaves are used in medicine. The plant has antiinflammatory, blood-stopping, astringent and antimicrobial properties.
