Silverweed Cinquefoil (Potentilla anserina), fam. Rosaceae.
(Do not confuse with Silver Cinquefoil!)
Pinnate leaves of this plant have alternating larger and smaller leaflets. It is a good food for various animals. The leaves can be confused with Common Agrimony, but unlike the latter, the cinquefoil leaves have no specific smell if torn and rubbed. The single flowers give a final distinction of cinquefoil from agrimony.
The plant has soothing preoperties. Raw leaves are used for suppositories from hemorrhoids, the herb infusion for cramps, painful women periods, stomach ulcer and gastritis with increased acidity, and as a diuretic.
