Brown Knapweed, Cornflower (Centaurea jacea), fam. Asteraceae.
In DVRZ forest near Kyiv, it blooms quite late – in the second half of summer. Brown Knapweed prefers open and relatively humid areas – for example, along the lake banks. Simple leaves and erect habit make it easy to distinguish from creeping Sumy Cornflower, which also has pink flowers.
