Sumy Cornflower (Centaurea sumensis), fam. Asteraceae.
Along with Brown Knapweed (Centaurea jacea), it is typical for natural flora of our forest. It blooms in May, occuring in dry sunny places. Even without flowers, it is easy to recognize by peculiar leaves with grey fluffy fur. The flowers sit on creeping stems and almost always lie straight on the ground. Their taste is bitter, and they have diuretic, sudorific and choleretic properties.
