Yellow Loosestrife (Lysimachia vulgaris)

   Loosestrife (Lysimachia), fam. Primulaceae.
Yellow (Garden) Loosestrife (Lysimachia vulgaris) is abundant in some parts of the forest, preferring quite moist places. It begins to bloom in June, a month later than its relatives (Spotted Loosestrife and Creeping Jenny). A feature of yellow loosestrife is the leave arrangement by three on the stems.
The plant has astringent, choleretic, tonic, antiinflammatory properties. Its juice promotes wound healing.
Please do not confuse with Purple Loosestrife (Lythrum), which is not a relative to Yellow and Spotted Loosestrife, but accidentally has a similar name.
