May Lily (Maianthemum bifolium), fam. Asparagaceae or Convallariaceae.
All its properties are close to Lily of the valley, only the flowers look different – they are small, collected in a bract, and with protrusive stamens. May Lily prefers shadow. Its red berries, smaller than those of Lily of the valley, ripen in autumn. The leaves of May Lily are heart-shaped. The plant is toxic, especially the berries.
