Lily of the valley (Convallaria majalis), fam. Asparagaceae or Convallariaceae.
The most abundant and fragrant of our spring flowers. Probably, it has been but into some Red Lists of Threatened Species, but there is no sense to protect it in the forest around DVRZ, since there is no way how the flower-pickers could harm our many hectares of almost monoculturally growing lilies-of-the-valley.
In autumn, the plant gives red berries. Their quantity is unproportionally small compared to the initial number of flowers. All the parts of the plant are toxic. The lily-of-the-valley medical preparations (from its leaves and flowers) are used for neurosis, heart defects, cardiosclerosis, tachycardia etc. But any self-treatment with them may be a real danger for the patient's health and even life.s
