Lady's Bedstraw (Galium verum), fam. Rubiaceae.
Grows in dry parts of the forest, in clearings. Similarly to Woodruff, it is recognized by whorled leaf arrangement (10 leaves surround the stem in one point). Blooms in June, with yellow bracts having annoyingly sweet smell, bringing lots of honey. This is a medicinal plant – it has antiseptic, choleretic, sudorific, diuretic, analgetic, laxative, estrogenic (dangerous!), blood-stopping action, and toxic in large doses. Bith juice and infusion of Lady's Bedstraw can coagulate milk.
