Erect Clematis (Clematis recta), fam. Ranunculaceae.
Sometimes occur in the forest in shady places. This is a herb about 1 meter height, with opposite pinnate leaves (similar to ash) and fragrant white flowers. The stems often cannot bear their own weight and lie horizontally.
There are toxic substances in the leaves and flowers — anemonin and clematitol. Ground fresh plant emits pungent smell and may case severe lacrimation and skin irritation. Clematis also supresses microbial activity.
