Red hot Poker (Kniphofia uvaria), fam. Asphodelaceae.
   A perennial ornamental plant, originates from South Africa (Cape Region). It loves warmth, sunshine and fertile soils. Requires covering during snowless winters. Blooms in May-June with original "bottlebrush" inflorescences, with alternating red, yellow and greenish flowers at various development stages.
