Golden Chain tree (Laburnum anagyroides), fam. Fabaceae.
A shrub or a small tree. Sometimes called yellow acacia, though usually this folk name relates to Siberian peashrub (Caragana arborescens). The Golden Chain tree differs from the latter plant by its ternary (instead of 9-15-pinnate) leaves, as well as luxurious racemes (instead of separate flowers). However, the time of blooming (May) and the color of the flowers are common for these two plants. Another Russian name is "Golden Rain". The plant survives through the frosts down to -20°-25°С – that means, in some winters in can be frostbeaten, but restore during the next year.
All the parts of the plant are toxic. In small doses, they are capable of strong breathing and blood flow stimulation.
