Bermuda grass (Cynodon dactylon), fam. Poaceae.
A weed, common in southern regions. It is easy to distinguish from other grasses by its peculiar inflorescences, split like a fan into 4-5 spike-like branches. The rhizomes cannot bear cold winter, and the seeds sprout only when the hot summer comes, that is why the flowering and fruiting of this plant begins only in the second half of summer. In arid areas, where only few species can survive beneath the scorching sun, Bermuda grass feels itself perfectly. Many animals, for example sheep, like it very much. It is used to create the grass-lawns. Bermuda grass infests in agricultural lands. In fact, its name does not mean that its motherland is Bermuda Islands, but that these islands suffered a lot from its invasion. The infusion of Bermuda grass rhizomes is used to treat the respitatory and urogenital infections.
