Gipsywort; Bugleweed (Lycopus europaeus), fam. Lamiaceae.
A relatively short herbaceous plant, occurs in the forest in humid places. Its leaves are somewhat similar to Nettle or Red Oak. Gipsywort blooms in the second half of summer.
The plant has antipyretic, blood-stopping, diuretic and strong sedative action. Used against hyperthyroidism. Counterindicated for hypotension, pancreatic insufficiency, and pregnancy.
