Trumpet vine (Campsis radicans), fam. Bignoniaceae.
A vine with large thimble-like flowers, with no smell. It is often grown in southern regions of Ukraine, but in DVRZ it has been found in one place only, in Dundicha (V. Vyshyvanoho) street. Trumpet vine hardly bears our winters, since after exposure to temperature below -20°C only the roots and the thickest branches would survive. In favorable conditions, it may creep to the tops of 10-15-meter trees, amusing us with red flowers high up. It rarely brings fruits (the photos with them are not from Kyiv). Trumpet vine blooms through all summer, especially in sunny places.
