Wood Small-reed (Calamagrostis epigeios), fam. Poaceae.
Often grows in the forest in the former clearings, being one of the reasons for poor restoration of trees in these places. It oppresses the seedlings and saplings of pine in nurseries and cultures. Wood small-reed is a very rough plant – not eaten by animals, and also used for paper production. An infusion of rhizomes or young shoots is used as antiinflammatory.
