Black Horehound (Ballota nigra), fam. Lamiaceae.
   A weed, sometimes quite sturdy, occurs in the forest, often along the roads. Spreads its corrugated round leaves in early spring, but does not bloom until summer.
   A medicinal plant (sedative, analogous to Motherwort).
