Bleeding heart (Dicentra), fam. Fumariaceae.
An attractive flower, sometimes found in the garden beds of the amateurs. It originates from mountain parts of China and Korea. The plant can reach one meter in height, and grows in big but compact bushes with dissected leaves. It hardly propagates by seeds, which do not ripen and sprout after three years only. Instead, rhizome division is normally used, which needs a caution due to acrid sap in rhizomes.
