Forsythia, fam. Oleaceae.
Maybe the brightest early-spring blooming shrub, quite abundant in the city. Originates from warmer climate. Only after serious frosts (like in 2006 and 2012) it does not bloom. The flowers have almost no smell. The plants can be of two sexual forms, necessary for mutual pollination of each other. That is why sometimes, when there is only one form in small isolated parks, the seeds cannot develop. Fortunately, it does not apply to DVRZ suburb in Kyiv – we have both forms.
The plant has antiinflammatory and antipyretic action.
