Nottingham Catchfly (Silene nutans), fam. Caryophyllaceae.
An inconspicuous forest plant, blooms in May-June. It likes coolness – the flowers look faded during warm days, since their time is night: on the first night, the outer ring stamens ripen; on the second – the inner ring stamens; and on the third – the stigmata. The plant has sedative, analgetic, antiinflammatory, antitoxic, and blood-stopping effects.
