Saltcedar (Tamarix ramosissima), fam. Tamaricaceae.
A peculiar leafless bush, blooms in May. Our climat is not hot enough for its fruit to ripen, since the plant originates from dry prairies and semi-deserts, including the salt-marshes. This also explains the transformation of leaves into unnoticeable little scales, to save water.
The bark and leaves contain a lot of tannins. They are used as an astringent, sudorific, diuretic, analgetic, blood-stopping, laxative remedy. Edible for animals.
