Honesty; Money plant (Lunaria), fam. Brassicaceae.
Grown in the flower beds of the city, rather rarely. Blooms in late April till May, and as early as in the beginning of summer the fruits appear. These are flat pods with seeds visible due to transparency of the walls, reminding large coins or whole Moon. After ripening and opening, they remain on the plant for long time (until winter), being responsible for its easily recognizable characteristic shape. The seeds of Honesty are bitter and have diuretic and sedative properties.
