Russian Tagasaste (Chamaecytisus ruthenicus)

Russian Tagasaste (Chamaecytisus ruthenicus), fam. Fabaceae.
A small shrub, forming large associations in many sunny areas of the forest. Blooms from late April to early May, the flowers devoid of any slightest smell. But there is no wonder in all that – indeed, most our plants bloom in spring. Yet another thing is really marvellous: some "crazy" exemplars bring one-two, or even a dozen flowers in October-December, when they look like little bright flames at the dull background, often even the snowy landscape. This plant is poisonous. It is used in medicine as an anti-shock remedy, in precisely tuned quantities only.
