Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium), fam. Asteraceae.
Grows mostly around the Rybne Lake (see map).
Stimulates digestion and biliary excretion, kills parasites of various kinds. These properties are related to the components of essential oil of the plant (thujone, terpenes), and glycosides (absinthin, anabsinthin). At overdose, especially in combination with alcohol, these substances may cause nervous system disorders.
