False indigo bush (Amorpha fruticosa), fam. Fabaceae.
Found in large quantities in the forest, and less often in the city. Blooms in May; the flowers have stupefying smell. By autumn, they turn into brushes of fruit, which hang on the bush all the winter, and eventually fall down.
The seeds of the plant contain glycoside amorphin, which has calming, cardiotonic and neurotropic properties. The seeds are poisonius and not recommended for collection by non-experts.
