Hop (Humulus lupulus)

   Hop (Humulus lupulus), fam. Cannabinaceae.
A vine, grows sometimes in the forest. Contains bitterness. Hops are a source of the so-called phytoestrogens, the plant analogues of feminine hormone. This partially explains the observed hormonal imbalance in the men who are great beer lovers. Hops contain the substances that act as sedatives (hypnotics) and anti-inflammatory ones. It has been found that hops accumulate ecological toxicants, so it is not desirable to gather its fruits in the city.
