Hawkweed (Hieracium), fam. Asteraceae.
Grows in the forest, in dry places. The flowers remind dandelion by their shape and color. This is a medicinal plant, and slightly toxic. The folk practice has identified blood-stopping and diuretic actions of hawkweed, and its ability to enhance stomach juice secretion. Applied externally as an infusion, it provides antiinflammatory, astringent and wound-healing action.
