Evening primrose (Oenothera), fam. Onagraceae.
A plant with high straight stem; the large-flowered froms occur in the city, and the forms with somewhat smaller flowers – in open sites of the forest.
Evening primrose depends to ornamental, fodder, vegetable, tanning, melliferous and oil plants. The fleshy root of evening primrose can be used as a vegetable in the end of its first year of life. The evening primrose oil (from its seeds) has valuable composition, contains a rare gamma-linolenic acid, having antiinflammatory and antitumor properties, often used as a dietary supplement in western countries.
