Viper's Bugloss (Echium vulgare), fam. Boraginaceae.
   The decoction of the herb is used in folk medicine as expectorant and soothing remedy for common or whooping cough, and as anticonvulsant and sedative for epilepsy. Viper's Bugloss is also used externally against rheumatical pains in joints, tendon sprains etc. The plant is toxic, so the proper dosage is important.
